'Facebook for the enterprise': Microsoft Office now in the cloud with new Office 365 [video]
Microsoft has now launched a completely online edition of its popular Office suite of applications.
The new service is called Office 365. It's available as a limited test currently. It will be on sale on a subscription basis worldwide next year. It will be available through most browsers, as well as on mobile devices.
Finally, customers can access Office programs without installing software from anywhere. It's a direct competitive blow to Google, whose online-based Google Apps software acted as a cheap, basic cloud alternative to the Microsoft Office suite.
