First Annual Canadian Videogame and Digital Arts Awards coming up
Co-locating with GDC-Canada in Vancouver this year is the 1st Annual Canadian Videogame and Digital Arts Awards. The Awards will honour and celebrate the best and brightest in Canadian games, computer animation and visual effects and the nomination deadline is just days away.
On the evening of May 5th, the winners will be announced at a fast-paced event featuring Canadian hosts and presenters, and the internationally renowned musical talent Video Games Live.
Who qualifies? All awards are for work completed in Canada by December 31st 2009. This includes products that were certified gold during the 2009 calendar year. This year's categories include:
VFX / Animation
- Best Animated Short
- Best Animated Feature Film
- Best Animated Television (Series or one-off)
- Best Visual Effects Movie
- Best Visual Effects Television
- Best In-Game Cinematic
Video Game
- Best Visual Arts
- Best Writing
- Best Audio
- Best Game Design
- Best Technology
- Best Console
- Best Downloadable
- Best Handheld
- Game of the Year
Any individuals or companies in the Canadian digital media industry, need to submit their nominations to the Canadian Videogame and Digital Arts Awards by march 31st.
