Flock North is no more
Five months after being acquired by Zynga, social web browser Flock has been shelved entirely and support for Flock browsers has been discontinued.
Flock was founded in 2005 and is based in Redwood City, CA, but had an office in Victoria nicknamed "Flock North" where half of it's 40 engineers worked.
At the time of the acquisition Flock CEO Shawn Hardin blogged that the deal is a “perfect fit” and that “Flock will help Zynga in achieving their goal of building the most fun, social games available to anyone, anytime – on any platform.”
Flock's social browser allowed users to access their social networks while browsing other websites. At the time of purchase Flock had 10 million users worldwide - certainly not significant considering Zynga's userbase.
