Canada's Fastest-growing Mobile Telecom Expands Free Service to 32 More Cities

Waterloo-based Fongo today announced the expansion of its service area to 32 new cities across Ontario.

The company, which describes itself as "Canada's fastest growing mobile telecommunications company," offers a mobile phone service app for iPhone and Android that provides a free local Canadian phone number, unlimited free calls to most of Canada from anywhere in the world, unlimited free text messaging, and free voicemail, caller ID, call waiting, and call forwarding.

"We've powered over 500 million minutes of free calling for Canadians and this expansion is part of our goal to extend Fongo to every corner of the country," says Dave Bullock, president of Fongo. "People in Peterborough, Owen Sound, and 30 other cities can now get a free local number in their city and talk freely from coast-to-coast."

"Canadians pay some of the highest prices for mobile phone service in the industrialized world," OpenMedia.ca Executive Director Steve Anderson noted recently. "Innovative new cell phone market entrants are important to the Canadian telecommunications industry—providing Canadians with more choice and keeping mobile phone service prices in check."
