Forget Ping. Start Listen.in

Apple recently launched Ping to much fanfare.  However, as a social network there is much to be desired.  So, forget about Ping and start "Listening".

Toronto-based PushLife recently launched a beta version of their brand new music-centric social network: Listen.in

Listen.in is a social music hub that gives you access to your friend's playlists and music in real-time, with the chance to earn badges that will define your inner mogul.

Here's how it works:

Listen.in syncs with your iTunes account which allows your friends to "listen in" to 30 second clips of your music library. For every song you stream on Listen.in, the service gives the listener the ability to watch the corresponding "music video on YouTube, read the lyrics or the artist’s biography, check out some photos of the band, buy tickets to their up-coming concert and even purchase the song from Amazon."

Although this is not a replacement for Limewire it does seem to focus more on community than getting free music.  The ability for the artist to get renumerated via concert tickets and digital purchases is also a great feature.

The question remains: When will you start Listen.in?
