Calgary Technologies Inc.'s TechRev profiles local technology leaders and promotes opportunities for investment and innovation. Part of TechRev's mandate is to host a marquee speaker or an elite recognized company twice a year to inspire and reinforce the success opportunities available to local tech companies.

On April 7, 2008 TechRev will be hosting Secrets of Successful Startups - Lessons from 30 famous tech founders shared by Y Combinator founding partner Jessica Livingston at the Palliser in Calgary. Livingston, author of Founders at Work and one of PC Magazine's 50 Most Influential People on the Web, shares what really went right and wrong in the earliest days of 30 famous technology companies. Livingston's book recounts interviews with more than 30 famous tech founders and reveals how startups are different from established companies.

In addition, attendees will hear first hand accounts of the early days from two local start-ups: Geoff Lyon of CoolIT Systems and Michael Sikorsky of Cambrian House.

A couple updates on this post:

1. TechRev's plan is to hold one marquee event (such as the April 7th eventl) and at least three smaller networking events highlighting featured companies throughout the year.

2. The April 7th event is SOLD-OUT.
