Four Canadian companies among winners of 2011 BBM Challenge and Recognition Awards
BlackBerry Partners Fund today announced the winners of the “BBM” competition in the fourth annual BlackBerry Partners Fund Developer Challenge. Winners of the Most Addictive Social Apps Using the BBM Social Platform were selected on a regional basis and multiple Canadian companies made the list in North America. Apps were evaluated and judged on the level of integration with the BBM social platform, quality and use of development best practices, level of visual appeal, user experience, and creativity and innovation.
The Grand Prize Winner of the BBM Challenge was SeaBattleSE, developed by Calgary-based Toysoft Development. The second runner-up was Jingu, developed by Jingu Apps, another Canadian company.
BlackBerry Partners Fund also announced Recognition Award winners. New for the 2011 BlackBerry Developer Challenge, Recognition Award winners were selected from applications across six categories based on the level of visual appeal, user experience, and creativity and innovation.
In the North America category, Hockeycentral by Toronto's Rogers Media won "Best website conversion using the BlackBerry WebWorks platform." And ScoreMobile for BlackBerry by Canada's Score Media Ventures won "Most creative implementation of Super App characteristics."
