Four Cool Things About the Kobo Vox
The Kobo Vox is now for sale today. Here are four cool things about the tablet:
1. Kobo Pulse.
Kobo Pulse is a new social media feature that connects to Facebook to see what social networkers are posting about the book you're reading. It includes a voting system to up or down comments as a filter to keep visible reviews legitimate. You can also see how many people are currently reading it and how many people have already read it.
2. Reading Life.
Reading Life isn't new, but it's still neat. It provides awards, achievements, and stats on your reading habits. The Vox version of this software has a few new features than its limited black-and-white predecessor, too, offering more immersive gamification than ever.
3. It's still a dedicated e-reader.
The Vox is officiall a tablet but, as is evidenced by the above two features, e-reading remains at the forefront of Kobo's focus. As luxury ebooks and cheaper tablets simultaneously enter the market, the gap between the two has virtually disappeared—and, for the moment anyway, the Vox strikes the best balance between the two types of devices.
4. It's Canadian.
Kobo is a Canadian company based out of Toronto. The Vox is a Canada-born product. Hopefully it sells better than that other Canadian tablet.
