Employers who worry about hiring immigrants with foreign credentials aren’t uncommon; it’s hard to know how education and experience in a different country and culture will translate to the Canadian tech sector.

But Skills International, a non-profit organization, aims to take the uncertainty out of hiring foreign workers. They’ve been vetting foreign-trained employees in Ontario for years, and now they are taking their service to B.C. — all for free.

Candidates are screened by immigrant agencies registered by Skills International and must meet minimum requirements in both professional skills and English fluency to be listed on their website. Employers will only view profiles and resumes from these candidates, of which the site currently lists over 10,000.

The B.C. version of the website will launch on November 22nd with the support of organizations and corporations like the Ministry of Advanced Education, the City of Vancouver, Safeway, Vancity, BC Hydro, Lifelabs, BC Human Resources Management Association and the BC Chamber of Commerce.
