In February, an accidental fire inflicted $500,000 worth of damage to a Future Shop store in Beauport, Quebec. The fire forced the store to shut down temporarily.
At the time, Future Shop estimated that the store would reopen in "one to two weeks." This didn't happen. It took until Friday, April 20, for the Beauport store to once again open its doors—nearly two months after the fire.
Future Shop at the time also promised to make "a generous donation" to a local firefighter charity "as a gesture of appeciation." The technology retailer kept its word, donating $5,000 to the Quebec Firefighters Foundation for Major Burn Victims.
Founded in 1982 and headquartered just outside of Vancouver, Future Shop operates 149 locations across Canada.
