GameON, Canada's first conference dedicated exclusively to video game financing, takes place later this week at the Grand Banking Hall in Toronto. Eric Zimmerman, Co-Founder of New York’s Gamelab and Richard Iwaniuk of BioWare will deliver keynote presentations tackling the big questions in games financing today:

  • Who’s leading the world at attracting new money?
  • What project financing alternatives exist alongside the publishers?
  • What are VCs, angels and banks looking for in the games sector?

Iwaniuk will no doubt reflect on the growth of independent video game companies and how his Edmonton-based Bioware was able to grow into one of Canada’s top game studios and get acquired by EA for $860 Million. Bioware was recently named one of Gamasutra’s Top 5 Developers of 2007 and has sold over 20 million copies of their popular game titles worldwide.

Other expert speakers include Tim Gatland of Fund4Games, Jonathan Adair of Distil Interactive, Jamie Leece of Rainmaker Games, and Phil Giroux of Magmic Games. The kick-off celebration takes place the evening of January 17th, followed by a full day of expert panels, case studies, models, explorations, matchmaking services and networking opportunities January 18th.
