Pound & Grain to Host Vancouver’s First Gastown Design Showdown

Posted by Techvibes NewsDesk

Vancouver digital agency Pound & Grain will be hosting the first ever Gastown Design Showdown on June 27th.

Described as a "creative hackathon", the event will bring 80 of Vancouver’s most talented interactive graphic designers and user experience gurus in town together to participate in a one-day, peer-evaluated competition.

Event organizer Julie Tremblay elaborates, “Our goal is to create a truly one-of-a-kind event to recognize Vancouver design excellence and promote problem solving through cooperation and creativity. We also want to see meaningful results come from this experience for the people of Ethiopia”.

100% of the profits from this event will support imagine1day in their goal to ensure every child in Ethiopia receives quality education.

As well as through the creative challenge, participants will find value by attending to two keynote presentations and mini-workshops. Vancouver based Art Director Jeremy Mendes whose most recent work with the National Film Board, Bear 71, has won every major international interactive award in the past year will be taking the microphone, along with Joni Rustulka, an exceptional San Francisco based User Experience Designer at Adobe PhoneGap.

Designers can register in teams of two here to participate.
