The purpose of TechStars For A Day is twofold. First, it helps you get a sense of what TechStars would be like. You get to experience the people, the city, and the atmosphere. Second, it gives us the opportunity to get to know each other better, for us to answer your questions, and for you to show off your product and your vision. In short, it’s a great opportunity.
While the event is "by invitation only", TechStars' David Cohen insists that just because you haven’t been invited doesn't mean that they don't want you to be there. Most of the companies that have been invited to date have inquired about attending and Cohen suggests that interested parties do the same.
And don't sweat it if you've been invited and can't attend. Cohen promises that there is "no harm done" - you’ll still be fully considered for participation based on your application. As a matter of fact, 6 of the 10 companies TechStars selected last year were unable to attend TechStars For A Day. On the flip side, 4 of the 10 companies likely had the inside track thanks to attending.
