Get your daily dose of awesome from this award-winning blog

This year, there were a total of 19 Webby Award winners with strong Canadian ties. Earlier today, we mentioned the outstanding surprise win of a Canadian entrepreneur, who took home the People's Voice award for Web Services & Applications.

Another impressive stand-out is one particular homemade blog: The aptly titled "1000 Awesome Things," which actually won two Webby Awards back in 2009 as well. This year, 1000 took home the People's Voice Winner for "Blog - Cultural."

1000 Awesome Things is as simple as it sounds. Since June of 2008, Neil Pasricha has been writing one blog post per weekday about something awesome: popping bubble wrap, smelling the air in a bakery, and snow days, to cite some examples. And yes, all the posts are this simple; that's the joy of it.

The blog has been so explosively popular, especially after taking home multiple Webby award nods, that it became a book: It was published as a 400-page hardcover the United States and Canada in April, 2010 from AEB/Putnam, a division of Penguin Publishing. Appropriately titled "The Book of Awesome," it is little surprise that the book became a bestseller in its first week.

Do you think Neil's things are awesome?
