Gener8 Media has received funding from the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program.
The Vancouver-based company, which specializes in 3D stereo conversion services and cloud-based data management and analytics solutions for the entertainment industry, will receive up to $400,000 in funding from NRC-IRAP plus technical advisory services.
“With the NRC-IRAP support we will be able to hire top talent straight out of university labs who are doing groundbreaking research in our area to further innovate our 3D conversion technology,” says Gener8's COO, Tim Bennison. “This will enable Gener8 to develop solutions to complex problems in computer graphics and image processing that are central to our 3D conversion process to ultimately streamline the 3D conversion process.”
“Our market-leading 3D conversion technology has set a new standard and earned Gener8 a strong reputation in Hollywood,” adds Rory Armes, Gener8's CEO. “This support gives us that extra help to really push our technology, be more innovative and more competitive, and open up our solution to additional market opportunities in 3D broadcast, advertising and mobile.”
Gener8's technology has been used by Hollywood for such movies as The Amazing Spider-Man, Ghost Rider 2 and Harry Potter.
