GRAND to host free workshops in Calgary, Edmonton, and Winnipeg
The Graphics, Animation and New Media Network of Centres of Excellence (GRAND) is holding a series of workshops across Western Canada in early March 2012.
The workshops will provide a forum for the communication of research results and highlight the development of innovative graphics, animations and new digital media in Western Canada.
The goal is to stimulate discussions between industry and the GRAND research community and to identify future research problems and solutions, and potentially to stimulate the development of on-going working relationships. Technology transfer is a major issue for academics and industry alike and the workshop will identify the challenges and rewards of moving technology out of the universities and include discussions on IP protection and possible transfer/commercialization avenues.
These workshops are FREE, run from 11:00am to 5:00pm, and include lunch. Dates, cities, and themes are as follows:
- March 1st - University of Calgary - General theme of realistic computer generated images and modeling for game development design and/or training.
- March 2nd - University of Edmonton - General theme of Augmented Reality Game Development Tools and Methodologies.
- March 5th - University of Manitoba - General theme of Digital Media Technologies and Development Tools to enhance User Experience.
Due to space constraints each workshop can only accommodate 50 participants. RSVP with Mark Salopek by email at mark_salopek@gnwc.ca.
