Groupon Acquires Canadian Couponing App

Toronto mobile cash back and couponing app SnapSaves has been acquired by Groupon for an undisclosed sum.

Launched less than one year ago, SnapSaves was the first mobile app launched by daily deals platform Buytopia.

According to SnapSaves’ acquisition announcement today, the ownership change will not affect current app users.

“Nothing else has changed. Your SnapSaves account will continue to work just as it does today. There’s nothing else for you to do, but snap away and enjoy savings on the things you buy every day”.

SnapSaves’ brand partners will benefit though.

“Our audience has grown to include Groupon’s 52 million active customers and 80 million mobile app downloads. Our reach is unmatched in driving sales volume and velocity”.

LaBarge Weinstein acted as counsel to SnapSaves with a team that included James Smith, Estelle Duez, Gisèle Salazar, and Kyle Lavender.
