If you're a hacker and planning to be in Vancouver for the 2011 GROW Conference from August 17th to 19th, you might want to stick around an extra day. HackVAN is taking place on Saturday, August 20th.

HackVAN will bring together developers, hackers and designers to learn about APIs and build awesome applications to win fantastic prizes.

HackVAN is an all day hackathon starting at 9:00am and ending at 6:00pm. Previous sold-out HackDay hackathons have been held in Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa and Waterloo.

HackVAN will start with brief API presentations and workshops. Developers then team up (or work solo) to build an application in a single day. At the end of the day, every single completed application will be presented to industry judges who will select the winning applications and award prizes (including a MacBook Air).

Tickets are $10 and you can reserve your spot online now. And be sure to get out for the HackVAN meet and greet the evening before on Friday, August 19th.
