Hallway Networking at SXSW

Posted by Matthew Benning on Sat, March 8, 2008 12:46 PM · Filed under Vancouver , Events , Social Media · No Comments

I'm learning - quickly - that a large portion of SXSWi involves the hallway. They're not just for getting around anymore! People are congregating in the halls, making conversation, meeting new people and closing deals. The panels, I'm hearing, are fantastic, the speakers are offering excellent content and everyone walks away having learned something. I've been too busy in the halls finding new people that I haven't gotten an opportunity to actually attend a session yet!

I've spent more time with the Vancouver tech community here in Austin than I do when I'm in Vancouver, the irony of which is not lost on me. The good news is, we're forming bonds that will continue when we get home.

I guess that's what social media really is all about, and by extension, so is SxSWi. making the connections, having the conversations and finding fun in the hallways.
