The Metro design language, used by the Windows Phone, is the subject of a presentation and networking session presented by Microsoft and Habanero on December 7th called “Modern Mobile Design Language: From Transportation to Pixels.”

The event will be attended by Microsoft’s director of mobile experience design, Albert Shum. Shum will talk about the inspiration and design principles behind the Windows Phone interface, and how the Metro language evolved over a 10-year span. In particular, he’ll go over how Microsoft attempted to merge classic visual design with transportation graphics systems.

The Calgary instalment of this event will take place December 7th at the Metropolitan Conference Centre from 5:30–7:30 p.m. The event is free, but the Vancouver event filled up quickly, so you’ll want to register early here.
