A friend sent me a link to a new online community for women called Herhotspot (!) and I wanted to get your opinion on whether or not the concept works or will work. The site provides hyper-targeted content for the Gen Y audience of girls and builds it on top of a social network. Makes sense as those already using Twitter and Facebook will likely join this site.

For me, the fact that I have to visit yet another female-targeted site that is PINK is really annoying. But then again, I am not their target demo. The topics or channels of discussion are predictable: love, style, college, work and self. It reminds me of a Popsugar-type of content network– the colours, fonts and big blocky-looking features look similar– and the site does not rely on heavy editorial control, rather is more user-gen content focused. Other than that, the name could mislead some people...? What are your thoughts?
