Four startups presented earlier this week at the first Montreal NewTech Demo of 2011. Montreal NewTech is a series of monthly events held in - you guessed it - Montreal, and involving - you're right again - tech startups.

The latest event saw presentations from Stella, Taskhire, Vanilla Forums, and Virtual Locker.

  • Stella: A monitoring service that notifies web owners when their site is down or running slow.
  • Taskhire: Montreal's latest approach to outsourcing daily tasks and banishing the to-do list.
  • Vanilla: Also known as Vanilla Forums. A modern, open-source forum used by more than 400,000 websites to "manage and cultivate activity" in their communities.
  • Virtual Locker: A service that allows students to discover, rate, and recommend things like classes, professors, and facets of campus.

The video below is of Vanilla's presentation. Check out all the videos on Montreal NewTech's YouTube channel, MTLNewTech.
