If you've ever attempted a major house renovation or substantial home improvement project, you've likely encountered at least one nightmare: either struggling to manage the project yourself or struggling to find a reliable, competent contractor to manage it for you.
Enter FindMeAPro. This Montreal-based startup, which launched in April, is a web platform designed to help people find qualified and available contractors for home improvement projects.
Founded by CEO Andrei Uglar and CTO Eric Boily, who previously founded Weblocal.ca, FindMeAPro is backed by four angel investors, including Martin-Luc Archambault and Dan Robichaud. Currently, the service only covers Quebec, but the startup says it plans to expand across Canada "soon."
Within the platform, users describe their project and budget, and FindMeAPro takes care of finding a qualified and available contractor for that specific project. The startup contacts potential contractors individually to ensure they're interested and appropriate for particular projects. It then brings three to five relevant contractors back to the user to collect quotes and choose his favourite. Best of all, the process is free for users.
