Hockey Community goes mobile

Hockey Community is making it easier than ever to get into the game of hockey thanks to their new iPhone app that brings the functionality of their website to the mobile space.

For those not in the know, Hockey Community is a Vancouver start-up that matches recreational hockey players and teams to games and ice times at over 5,000 rinks across Canada. Although only launched this past fall, Hockey Community has been in the press a lot, after being featured on the CBC, The Vancouver Sun and, of course, Techvibes (by the way, Techvibes got the scoop way before these other guys did. Just saying).

The iPhone app puts all of the real-time information from Hockey Community’s website in the gloves of players. You can see what’s happening at local rinks as events and times are announced, find players around you by position and skill level, and edit your own profile so that potential teammates can find you easily.
