HootSuite the Most Popular Social Media Manager for World's Top Brands

Vancouver-based HootSuite is the most popular social media management software for the world's top brands, according to a new survey from Pingdom.

The results of the study reveal that nearly 21% of the world's top brands, including eBay, Porsche, and IBM, use HootSuite's social media management dashboard. The company has close to five million users in total.

In second place is TweeDeck, accounting for just under 17% of top brands, including Reuters, Yahoo, and Smirnoff. In third is SocialEngage, with 9%, used by such brands as BlackBerry, Sprite, and Toyota. Virtue and SocialFlow round out the top five management systems.

TweetDeck is now owned by Twitter; the rest, including HootSuite, remain third-party tools.

Pingdom also notes that, if you include only the brands actually using a social media management system (29% don't use one), HootSuite accounts for almost 30% of those brands, TweetDeck for 23%, and SocialEngage for 13%.
