HootSuite's Offices Suck

Posted by Knowlton Thomas

The offices of Vancouver social media darling HootSuite suck.

But don't take it from us—that's the opinion of the company's chief executive officer, Ryan Holmes.

"Our offices are shitty. Seriously. People are crammed in desks, our internet is slow, our coffee is ok [sic]," he explained in an Ask Me Anything Session on Reddit when someone said "I hear the HootSuite officers are dope."

But that doesn't really matter to the HootSuite team, Ryan affirms. And it's also going to change.

"We're having an amazing time, and people are charged up with doing something that makes peoples lives better," he added. "We're going to get nicer offices. Maybe we'll get a little more Google-esque, but at the end of the day it's all about doing something amazing with great people. You notice external aesthetics less when what you're producing is amazing."

It's no surprise that HootSuite's office is bursting at the seams: the Canadian company hired 150 employees this year. At that pace of growth, we have to forgive the whole desk-cramming thing. (But crappy coffee? Come on, Ryan!)
