HP Unveils Six New Tablets Powered by Windows and Android

HP today unveiled six new tablets to compete with the likes of Apple iPads and Samsung Galaxy Tabs.

The company's imminent lineup of Android- and Windows-powered Slate tablets includes the seven-inch Slate7Extreme and the 10-inch Omni10tablet.

Similar in size and shape to the iPad Mini, the eight-inch Slate8Pro is the only HP tablet with a 4:3 ratio. A fourth device, the Slate7HD, is powered by Android and includes 4G compatibility and Beats Audio. There is also an 11-inch Windows-powered Pavilion tablet.

“Our customers need solutions that work and play the way they do,” says Ron Coughlin, senior vice president, Consumer PC and Solutions Group, HP. “Today’s announcement illustrates how HP is innovating and defining the next-generation computing experience, delivering the productivity customers need and the entertainment they want.”

Pricing for the tablets, which launch in the US in November, has not yet been released. Canadian launch dates are expected to be announced soon.
