Communitech Hyperdrive Grad Tacit Innovations Raises $700,000 Seed Round from BDC and Others

Tacit Innovations has raised a seed round.

Tacit, which graduated from the most recent cohort of Communitech’s Hyperdrive accelerator, raised $700,000. The capital comes from BDC, Canrock, Hyperdrive, and private unnamed investors.

The Canadian startup is based in Toronto but also has an office in Waterloo. It developed a platform called maegan, technology that allows customers to discover restaurants, browse menus, manage their orders and pay for their meals from the comfort of their own smartphone.

“Our vision is to increase the restaurant-goers satisfaction while dining out by allowing them to quickly find detailed information about where and what to eat, and empower them to better control their experience,” explains Cris Jucan, CEO of Tacit Innovations. “Financing will fuel the mobile platform development as well as sales and growth.”

“The next step is launching the product in restaurants across North America,” Jucan added.

“Our goal is to reduce the amount of time it takes for customers to find, place, and pay for an order in a restaurant, and to also allow restaurants to effectively and efficiently manage their staff, menus and social media platforms,” added CTO Brenda Crainic. “The new technology integrates seamlessly with existing critical in-restaurant systems and technologies, such as Point of Sale and Payment solutions.”
