IBM acquires New Brunswick born Q1 Labs

IBM announced today that they are acquiring Waltham, Massachusetts-based Q1 Labs - a provider of security intelligence software. Q1 Labs will become part of the new IBM Security Systems division.

Q1 Labs' analytics technology can automatically detect and flag actions, such as an employee accessing unauthorized information. Q1 Labs has more than 1,800 clients globally, including health-care providers, energy firms, retail organizations, utility companies, financial institutions, government agencies, educational institutions, and wireless service providers.

You're probably wondering why Techvibes is reporting the acquisiton of a US-headquartered company by a American tech behemoth.

Q1 Labs was founded by employees of the University of New Brunswick and their research and development centre is in Fredericton.
