If it ain't broke, fix it: why MEC redesigned their successful website

Posted by Liam Britten

Mountain Equipment Co-op has millions of satisfied customers, many of whom purchase the company’s products online. People loved their website. It was popular. It was familiar. So why did MEC decide to do a major overhaul of the site?

That’s the topic of a presentation from two of the minds behind the redesign. George Weetman, web marketing manager for MEC [pictured, right], and Gordon Ross, vice president and partner at OpenRoad [pictured, left]. The decisaion to redesign, the implementation of that redesign and post-redesign success of MEC’s website will be discussed in the 90 minute presentation.

“Please don’t change! Redesigning MEC.ca” will be held November 24th from 7–9 a.m. at the Westin Bayshore Hotel in Vancouver. Prices range from $25–$52, with discounts for members of the BCAMA.
