Calgary's Immersive Media Corp. has been a media darling for the past year thanks to Google and their privacy-provoking Street View maps which are fueled by Immersive's revolutionary camera technology.
They're not resting on their Google laurels though. Immersive Media has been working hard selling their leading-edge digital video imagery to the security industry internationally and they racked up another significant contract today.
Immersive Media announced that they will be providing Advanced Integrated Systems (AIS), a leader in Middle East security solutions, with Immersive 360 degrees spherical video systems to fulfill large-scale AIS projects. As an Immersive Certified Service Partner, AIS has built an organization of international business and security experts working with best-in-breed technology and equipment that will use Immersive Video to provide better solutions for the global security marketplace.
Immersive Media is a publicly traded company that is listed under the symbol "IMC" on the TSX Venture Exchange.
Related Update: Google Street View was approved for the UK today.
This is not accurate information. Google only used Immersive Media's imagery from a few cities for a short time then they cancelled Immersive's contract and started collecting their own imagery where currently 100% of the Street View imagery is from Google's own collection team.
The reason for this seems to be cost and quality. Google can do it better and cheaper themselves.
As far as being a "media darling," tell that to those of us who are shareholders and have seen the stock go from near $6 to under $1 in the past year. "Darlings" is not the word we use for management unless preceded by an adjective.
