At AbeBooks.com, our mission is to help people find and buy any book from any bookseller anywhere. We are the world’s largest online marketplace for books with more than 110 million new, used, rare, and out-of-print books listed for sale by more than 13,500 independent booksellers in 53 countries.

Working in the Systems group at Abebooks.com you will be responsible for developing the software that runs the world’s largest online bookstore. You have experience programming in successful Java teams as well as strong design skills, and are comfortable with both traditional client-server architectures and more modern service-oriented architectures. You have built web-based Java applications, but you have also have experience with Java outside of J2EE. You love technology and make it a point of pride to keep up on current development trends.

Requirements:

  • Relevant university degree and/or 2+ years work experience in software engineering
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
  • 2+ years Java programming experience with solid J2EE focus.
  • Strong OO Design Skills.
  • Experience with Java IDE such as Jbuilder, Eclipse, IntelliJ or similar.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience with a unit testing framework such as JUnit.
