Internet Entrepreneur Dale Begg-Smith comes up short at 2010 Games

A day after finishing second to Alex Bilodeau in the men's moguls at Cypress Mountain, an Australian sport official is accusing judges of awarding inflated scores to the Canadian allowing him to edge out Australian Dale Begg-Smith for gold.

It shouldn't come as much of a surprise that controversy continues to follow Begg-Smith who refuses to talk to media (or even smile).

Begg-Smith split from the Canadian Freestyle Ski Association in 2001 over philosophical differences and went on to win gold four years ago at the Turin Games on behalf of his adopted country.

The self-made Internet millionaire, who has been accused of dodgy business practices, arrived in Vancouver last week as the undisputed favourite to grace the top of the podium after collecting four gold medals and two silvers on the World Cup circuit this season.

Ironically, Begg-Smith stood poised to become the first Canadian-born athlete to ever win gold on home soil - only for Australia. Bilodeau ended up taking that title and the Gold.
