Carrier IQ has ignited a firestorm.

This hidden software program allegedly comes preinstalled on mobile devices from Samsung, HTC, Nokia, BlackBerry, and possibly even Apple, according to Android developer Trevor Eckhart. He discovered Carrier IQ hiding in smartphones and realized it has the power to track virtually everything a user does. A mobile Big Brother, if you will, with no restrictions.

Carrier IQ, if active on a smartphone, enables carriers and manufacturers to know everything you do on your phone, and it can only be removed with a thorough self-hacking. The software can also track tablets and even some e-readers. Learn more about it in the video below.
