Jeff Gadway previews RIM's upcoming BlackBerry PlayBook [Video]
Miranda McDonald of Rogers spoke with BlackBerry expert Jeff Gadway about Research in Motion's PlayBook, which is set to launch across North America on April 19.
Jeff opens up by talking about the device's impressive hardware, such as its dual cameras that both shoot 1080p HD video. He notes that the PlayBook is less than half an inch thick and weighs under a pound. One particularly neat feature is the that the PlayBook can connect to a television for a big-screen experience.
Jeff says that the biggest differentiator between the PlayBook and competing devices is its custom-designed software, crafted to take advantage of the tablet's 1 GHz dual-core processor and 1 GB of RAM, such as by enabling "true multi-tasking."
"We've built it to really harness all the power that we have in the hardware," Jeff explains. "It's been built from the ground up ... to deliver some really cool user experiences."
Of course, Jeff also talks about the PlayBook's "uncompromised web browsing," to which he boasts about Flash capability. And finally, he comments about the BlackBerry smartphone connectivity and the seamless integration between the two RIM devices.
