Jennifer Lum: a Canadian Angel

Earlier this month Toronto-born Jennifer Lum penned a guest blog post on Women 2.0 about her first year as an Angel Investor with Apricot Capital.

At the time Lum had invested in 8 companies along with Apricot Capital co-founder Peter Wernau.

Lum is unfortunately a rare commodity – a Canadian female working in the tech industry.

But the fact that she is a woman is really irrelevant.

We’re more interested in the fact that she’s a Canadian that has had success and is now helping others do the same. Lum was part of the core team that sold Quattro Wireless to Apple and now her operational experience has given her the chops needed to be an angel investor and startup mentor.

Yesterday TechCrunch reported that Y Combinator funded Contagion Health and Health Month have merged to form Habit Labs in Seattle. Contagion Health’s product, Imoveyou.com has been shelved as a result and Habit Labs will be focusing on their Health Month site and building out the still in stealth Habit AI.

In the process Habit Labs received $250K in angel funding from 500Startups’ Dave McClure, Seattle’s Founders Co-Op, and Lum’s Apricot Capital.

If you’re an aspiring Canadian angel investor, be sure to give Lum’s perspective a read.
