Portland's Jive Software announced today the acquisition of privately-held Filtrbox, a social media monitoring innovator based in Boulder.

Jive plans to integrate the Filtrbox real-time social media monitoring and engagement capabilities into the Jive platform to help enterprises harness the power of the social web and change the way they make decisions, develop products, go to market, and engage with customers, prospects and brand influencers.

As Twitter, Facebook, and blogs have become huge influencers on consumer and business purchasing decisions, the importantance of monitoring the conversation economy has become imperative. To date social media monitoring tools have only been in the hands of power-users within organizations and Jive wants to change that by empowering a broader set of users who want easy, cost-effective access to social intelligence.

Jive Software is Sequoia backed to the tune of $27 Million. Filtrbox was originally incubated in TechStars and raised $1.4 million in funding last February.

Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
