Canadian Popstar Justin Bieber No Longer Twitter's Most-followed Account

Posted by Techvibes Coffee Break

Canadian pop sensation Justin Bieber has been dominating social media networks in Canada and worldwide for years.

In 2011, the Biebs lead all Canadians in terms of Twitter followers and Facebook fans, and his music video for "Baby"—which was released back in early 2010—remains the second-most viewed item on YouTube ever.

It's been said that the young singer accounts for 3% of all traffic on Twitter, and earlier this year, Bieber was able to surpass Lady Gaga to become the world's most-followed account.

But his reign is over now as underdog Katy Perry exploded through the ranks in recent months, eclipsing Bieber at the 46-million-follower mark. According to data from TwitterCounter, Perry gains anywhere from 40,000 to 90,000 new followers per day.
