Kelowna's Metabridge conference an unqualified success
Metabridge's annual flagship event took place last week in Kelowna and it was an unqualified succcess. I was invited to participate as a PITCH OFF judge and I'm happy to report that Metabridge founder Steve Wandler and his organizing crew put together an awesome event.
Metabridge's mandate is to provide emerging technology companies in British Columbia with practical experience on deal making, commercialization opportunities and the ability to identify and secure new business leads.
The three-day event facilitates interaction between BC entrepreneurs and leaders from the Silicon Valley and also provide executives from high-level technology companies outside of BC with partnership, advisory role opportunities and increased access for their deal flow into our Province.
On Friday fourteen startups from around BC pitched Metabridge attendees and 20+ judges included VanEdge's Paul Lee, Venture Capitalist Steve Hnatiuk, and StockTwits founder Howard Lindzon. Valuable feedback was provided to all the startups and later in the evening two winners were announced at the Grande Finale dinner.
Jeff Sinclair of Xomo Digital took home 2nd place and Daryl Hatton of ConnectPoint Systems (the makers of FundRazr) was singled out as the best the Metabridge lineup. Both Sinclair and Hadden will be on their way to Silicon Valley soon on an all-expenses paid trip to connect with potential partners and investors.
Congrats to Sinclair and Hatton and to the Metabridge team for organizing a top-notch event.
