nintendo dsiiGaming is getting huge.

Apple's iOS operating system, which counts for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch, has eclipsed Sony PSP as the most popular gaming platform in the U.S. Next up is Nintendo, which the iOS is only one million users behind, according to the 2010 International Gamers Survey.

It's likely because games on these mobile devices are usually free. The survey reports that players willing to spend money on games is highest on Nintendo devices at two-thirds and lowest on the iOS at just one-third.

It's remarkable to see Nintendo poised to fall as the portable gaming leader. I still remember playing Pokemon on Gameboy Original. That's an experience nothing on the iOS can replicate.
