LPV5 hosts a Start-up Contest

Posted by Rob Lewis on Fri, September 12, 2008 6:01 PM · Filed under Vancouver , Awards , Venture Capital , Video · 2 Comments

Next week's Launch Party Vancouver 5 (LPV5) will include a cool start-up contest co-sponsored by Bootup Labs and Fasken Martineau. The video contest is only open to the companies being featured at next week's event (stay tuned) and will go live the morning of September 18th.

All it takes is an entrepreneur + Macbook/webcam, clearly communicating what their start-up does and how far they will go to make their company succeed in a 90 second or less video clip. The videos will be judged, not for their production value or the quality of their pitch but on whether or not the panel of experts believes the idea has the legs to go the long haul.

There are two prizes up for grabs - the Grand Prize winner a.k.a. "Most Likely to Suceed" gets $1,000 of Bootup Labs' cash and the People's Choice Award wins box seats to a Vancouver Giants game courtesy of Faskin Martineau. The Grand Prize will be determined by a panel of judges included Paul Kedrosky, Andrew Lugsdin, Tanner Philp, Boris Wertz, Boris Mann, Steve Hnatniuk, and Rick Segal.

So, be sure to stop by the Launch Party site on the morning of the 18th to vote for your favorite start-up and hit LPV5 to meet the founders behind the winning and not-so-winning ideas later that day.

The link to the contest above is incorrect. The link should be http://lpv5.launchpartyhq.com/

Nice one Ross. You'd think that the LPV folks would fix that. The link should work with or without the www.
