Leankor Wins Energy Sector Entrepreneur Event

A Calgary startup beat out 13 other upstarts to take home the top prize in the Energy New Venture Competition.

Leankor’s enterprise-ready workflow management system bested its fellow entrepreneurial competitors in the Dragon’s Den-style pitching event, earning a $50,000 first prize comprised of $25,000 cash and $25,000 worth of in-kind services.

“The oil and gas sector is undergoing a significant evolution, and now is the time for innovations that allow organizations along the entire value chain to quickly adapt,” says Emilio Bernabei, CEO of Leankor.

Bernabei says that Leankor plans to reinvest a majority of the $25,000 cash prize in targeted marketing and sales initiatives to help the company reach more organizations with its lean management tools.

“The $50,000 prize will help Leankor deliver its workflow automation tool to even more organizations to assist them in running leaner operations and streamline their workflows,” Bernabei added.

The Energy New Venture Competition was created by the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the University of Calgary’s Haskayne School of Business, as well as Innovate Calgary.
