LinkedIn announced today that there are now more than two million Canadians among LinkedIn's global membership and that there are more than 20,000 LinkedIn Groups related to Canada.

As part of the Canadian announcement, LinkedIn's Arvind Rajan announced that they will be establishing an office in Toronto and hiring a Canadian country manager to continue driving brand awareness in Canada.

According to Rajan, LinkedIn's Canadian operation will work closely with the company's Mountain View  headquarters and with its other international operations in Europe, Australia, India and the Netherlands. In the immediate future, LinkedIn's Toronto office will focus on setting up LinkedIn's operations in Canada and working on user engagement, strategic partnerships and marketing.

LinkedIn also announced today the launch of a highly anticipated LinkedIn BlackBerry App, which is now available on BlackBerry App World. The BlackBerry App complements LinkedIn’s other mobile offering for the iPhone to give members more choices on how to use LinkedIn away from their offices and computers.

“With the addition of the application for BlackBerry to our broader suite of mobile applications, LinkedIn is available to more business people than any other professional network in the world,” said Adam Nash, vice president of search and platform products, LinkedIn. “This is an important step in our strategy to deliver business productivity tools to our members wherever their work takes them.”
