LinkedIn pushes expansion, appoints a country manager for Canada

by Knowlton Thomas

Congratulations to Jonathan Lister, LinkedIn's new manager for the company's forthcoming Canadian operations.

LinkedIn, the world’s largest professional network, took the next step forward in its international expansion with this move.

According to a rep from LinkedIn, in this new role Lister will "help establish LinkedIn’s first Canadian office and drive LinkedIn’s vision to connect the world’s professionals to make them more productive and successful." Lister's duties will include increasing the awareness and adoption of LinkedIn in Canada via user engagement, strategic partnerships, marketing, etc. There won't be a steep learning curve for Jonathan—he was most recently the country manager at Google Canada. He's also been involved with AOL.

LinkedIn’s Canadian office will be based in Toronto (no surprises there).

“Appointing someone of Jonathan’s caliber to lead LinkedIn’s Canadian operations marks another significant milestone in our international growth,” said Arvind Rajan, Vice President of International, LinkedIn. “Canada is one of LinkedIn’s fastest growing countries and we’re excited to begin building a team on the ground in Toronto. We look forward to being closer to our members in Canada and understanding their needs."
