Local Companies Growing Despite Slow Economy

Canadian companies in all sectors are dealing with a slew of challenges amidst a changing media scene and a slowing economy. While many (like Tourism Montreal) are adapting to the changes, some (like Raincity Studios) feel the brunt of the slower economy more and have to downgrade. Others like Vanouver's Backbone Systems and Engine Digital, to name a few, thrive–adding more employees and projects to their roster.  Engine Digital for example, just announced two new hires to their team.  The interactive marketing agency that develops integrated digital marketing campaigns, web experiences, online destinations, and branded applications, added award-winning Designer and Web Strategist, Sean Mitchell, and Interactive Producer, Justine Kwong to the roster. Assuming the role of Interactive Production Manager, Sean will help bridge the agency’s creative and strategy teams, oversee innovation and quality control and assist with client strategy.  Justine, who has worked with clients such as Health Canada, the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, the Canada Science and Tech Museum, and the Canada Council for the Arts will be an Interactive Producer for various campaigns.
