While smartphones handle many activities well, such as texting, gaming, and social networking, tablets are undeniably better at completing certain tasks.
One such task is shopping. The bigger screen allows for detailed looks at the products and easier checkouts. In fact, multi-touch screens are now creating e-commerce experiences superior to desktops.
As a result, m-commerce is rapidly becoming one of the most popular activites to perform on these slate devices. A new survey from e-tail website CouponCabin reveals that 32% of tablet owners in the US now enjoy shopping on their iPad and Android tablets more than any other activity.
The study suggests that one in three tablet owners have redeemed a coupon via their tablet and well over half have shopped on their device while watching television.
In terms of general usage, 53% of tablet owners spend less than one hour per day with their devices. 16% spend two hours or more.
One in five Americans now own a tablet. Ownership is highest among the 35-to-44 year old demographic—29% of them own one.
