Made-in-Canada Advanced Ballistics Analysis System deployed in Mexico

A new forensic ballistics analysis system has been deployed in Mexico and that system was developed in Ottawa.

Advanced Ballistics Analysis System (ALIAS) creates image data from cartridge cases and bullets, providing examiners and technicians with advanced ways to analyze bullets - allowing for quick adjustments to lighting and axis orientation.

The system was conceived by former RCMP officer Mike Barrett and brought to life by Ottawa software development firm bitHeads.

The result is now Barrett's venture Pyramidal Technologies, headquartered in Barbados.

As well as providing a 3D view of bullets and cartridges for analysis, ALIAS also simplifies storing, analyzing and sending off data to be viewed by other police labs.

With the technology completed, Pyramidal Technologies has been focused on marketing and pricing the systems aggressively, which may have helped bring the system into the Latin American market.
