Making iPhone Apps - It's like a gold rush right now!

Interesting article across the Canwest news service today about the booming iPhone App development space in Montreal.

No fewer than a dozen companies and independent programmers in Quebec are in the mobile app-making game. And it's a business they expect will only keep growing as more people buy these so-called smart-phones that can run different kids of software just like computers.

The Montreal Gazette's Roberto Rocho interviewed Randy Laporte of OneApp, an application design studio that is responsible for the popular Pull This Finger iPhone App, Martin Dufont of WhereCloud, makers of the Reportage iPhone Twitter client, and Simon Guertin who is responsible for a app called Wine Cellar, a personal database of wines for collectors.

According to the article, "thousands" of people are downloading OneApp's novelty flatulence app on a daily basis and WhereCloud's Dufort likens the current iPhone App development space to a historical migration West to the Sierra Nevada - "It's a gold rush right now''.
