Vancouver’s Metafor Acquired by Splunk

Splunk has acquired Metafor.

The San Francisco data company acquired the Vancouver-based provider of anomaly-detection and behavioral-analytics technology for IT and security operations for two reasons.

First, the deal will allow Splunk to expand capabilities in IT operations and security incident and event management, with machine-learning capabilities deployable today for advanced anomaly detection, and potentially applicable tomorrow in emerging aspects of machine learning.

Second, Splunk has no presence in western Canada, so the acquisition will help it build a broader BC presence.

The value of the transaction was not disclosed.

Metafor Software was founded in 2010. The startup raised capital from Vanedge in 2012.
