Metrolyrics Partners with Boost Mobile
MetroLyrics makes waves once again as they’ve just announced their partnership with Boost Mobile in hosting Be Heard, a campaign where users create content for a chance at winning 10,000 dollars in cash and an opportunity to produce a track with Dallas Austin at his studio in Atlanta, Georgia.
The winner will also receive a Beat Thang Beat Machine, an in-studio lesson from Aja Emmanuel, as well as a collection of Dallas Austin’s “Rowdy” branded clothing.
In April of 2008, MetroLyrics became the first lyrics-only website to license Gracenote's catalog of lyrics. Now the industry standard, Gracenote Lyrics is also utilized by major search portals and music sites such as Yahoo!, AOL, MTV, Radio Disney and others. The Gracenote lyrics database contains lyrics for more than 500,000 commercial tracks and has license agreements with all four major publishers: EMI, Universal/BMG, Sony/ATV, and Warner/Chappell.
Recently Metrolyrics has gone beyond providing song lyrics to online readers. They’ve focused on working closely with artists, labels, managers, and agencies in artist development, tour promotions, sweepstakes and unique contests. They’ve worked with partners such as AEG and Universal Music Canada to promote artists like Usher, Shiloh, and the The Stereos.
Metrolyrics boasts its status as: the most popular lyrics site worldwide, reaching more than 48 million unique monthly visitors, receiving 126 million monthly page views, and ranking as the 3rd largest music web site worldwide.
Almost one year ago, Techvibes featured a story about the local startup that earned over $10 million that year.
MetroLyrics was created by Milun Tesovic an SFU student in Burnaby who was named the Global Champion at the 2009 Global Student Entrepreneur awards.
